Contract negotiations between Serie A giants Juventus and their striker Dusan Vlahovic have come to a standstill, with both parties failing to see eye to eye over the terms of a new deal.
Vlahovic’s current deal expires in the summer, and Juventus were initially open to letting him go in the January transfer window amid interest from several top clubs in the Premier League and elsewhere in Europe.
However, an injury setback ruled out the possibility of an exit during the winter window. Since then, the Bianconeri’s stance on his departure from the club has shifted, and the record Serie A winners are now looking to keep him on board.
Vlahovic is currently on a deal that sees him pocket €12 million per year at the Allianz Stadium but Juventus are looking to tie him to a new deal that will see him earn far less than the aforementioned amount.
According to Tuttojuve, Vlahovic has turned down a revised contract proposal from Juventus. The Serie A giants are said to have put forward a new offer worth €6 million net per season, supplemented by performance-related bonuses.
However, the Serbian striker was not convinced by the terms, feeling that his market value warrants a more substantial salary.
The report adds that Vlahovic has communicated his stance clearly to the club, indicating that he would be open to an agreement closer to €8 million per year.
He reportedly believes that such figures would be within reach should he choose to see out his current deal and leave the Allianz Stadium on a free transfer.
As things stand, both parties find themselves in a deadlock. But discussions will continue, and Juventus will be hoping to find a common ground with the striker before the end of the season.
