Real Madrid‘s hierarchy have reached a consensus over the stalled contract negotiations with Brazilian star winger Vinicius Junior.
Vinicius Junior is into the final eighteen months of his current Real Madrid contract, and despite the club opening talks over a new deal, both parties couldn’t come to an agreement, forcing the negotiations to be tabled for later.
At the time of those negotiations, the Brazilian international was enduring a difficult spell under the reign of Xabi Alonso.
Due to his evident dip in form, the Los Blancos hierarchy were reluctant to go all out in their bid to tie him to a new contract.
However, that situation has now changed with Vinicius Junior enjoying scintillating form in front of goal since Real Madrid parted ways with Alonso and replaced him with another former player in Alvaro Arbeloa.
He’s scored six goals in his last five matches for Real Madrid, including crucial goals in both legs of their Champions League play-off tie against Benfica, while his general performance levels have also taken a significant step in the right direction.
According to Dario AS, this upturn in form hasn’t gone unnoticed within the club, and despite initial doubts among some members of the board, Real Madrid will finalise terms with the representatives of Vini Jr and extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer of 2027.
Los Blancos are not in any rush, though and could likely wait until the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup before reopening talks.
For now, they’re content to let the Brazilian winger focus on helping the club achieve success in both La Liga and the Champions League.
