Real Madrid are set to remain without several key stars in the coming weeks after several players missed the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off tie against Portuguese outfit Benfica.
Madrid welcomed the Liga Portugal giants to the Santiago Bernabeu earlier in the week but had to make do without the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Eder Militao, Dani Ceballos, Dean Huijsen and Rodrygo.
Despite the personnel shortage, Real Madrid managed a 2-1 win, courtesy of goals from Aurelien Tchouameni and Vinicius Jr., to progress to the Round of 16 with a 3-1 aggregate.
Ahead of their next La Liga game against Getafe, COPE has provided a fresh update on the fitness status and potential return dates for Los Blancos’ injured stars.
According to COPE’s update, Mbappe Bellingham, Militao, and Ceballos are unlikely to make it back in time to feature against Getafe as Real Madrid look to keep pressure on arch rivals Barcelona at the summit of La Liga.
Of the aforementioned players, Mbappe, who is currently battling a knee injury, has the earliest possible return date with the France international expected to regain full fitness within the next 10-14 days.
Meanwhile, the trio of Bellingham, Ceballos and Militao will remain on the sidelines for much longer, ruling them out of contention for both legs of Real Madrid’s Round of 16 ties in March.
Bellingham has been nursing a hamstring since the start of February, while Ceballos recently suffered a thigh injury.
For Militao, the Brazilian defender is sidelined with a tendon issue he developed in the first week of December 2025.
In a more positive update, Real Madrid should welcome Rodrygo back into the fold ahead of facing Getafe, as the Brazilian winger only missed their last outing
