AC Milan are planning to ward off growing Premier League interest in talented young defender Davide Bartesaghi by tying the Italian down to a new long-term contract.

Bartesaghi began the season as AC Milan’s second-choice option at left back, with the Rossoneri parting ways with a significant sum to bring in Pervis Estupian from Brighton and Hove Albion during the 2025 summer transfer window.

However, following an injury setback to Estupian earlier in the campaign, the Italy U-21 international stepped up capably, impressing coach Massimiliano Allegri enough to retain his place in the starting XI even after the Ecuadorian’s return to full fitness.

The 20-year-old has since emerged as one of Milan’s standout performers, with club insiders viewing him as a long-term asset capable of developing into a mainstay of the side for years to come.

Milan are now keen to move swiftly to secure his future, with plans already in motion to offer Bartesaghi an improved long-term contract that reflects his growing importance to the squad.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the proposed deal is expected to include a salary increase as part of the club’s strategy to protect one of their most promising young assets.

Premier League interest has intensified in recent months, with several English clubs making enquiries over the defender’s availability.

Arsenal are understood to be among the clubs monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Despite the external interest, Milan remain confident of keeping Bartesaghi at San Siro, viewing him as a key part of their long-term sporting project and a central figure in the club’s plans.
