Partey under fire again with more rape charges filed

Thomas Partey

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is facing two additional rape charges, as prosecutors confirm a fresh case involving a new alleged victim, according to the BBC.

The 32-year-old, who has already denied a series of sexual offence charges, now stands accused of crimes involving four different women. The latest charges relate to alleged incidents in 2020 and were brought following a renewed investigation by London’s Metropolitan Police.

Partey had previously pleaded not guilty at Southwark Crown Court to five counts of rape linked to two women, along with one charge of sexual assault involving a third. The new case adds two further allegations, significantly expanding the scope of the proceedings.

He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 March, where the new charges will be formally addressed.

The Ghana International was granted conditional bail last September after entering his initial pleas. The earlier allegations are said to relate to events between 2021 and 2022, during his final years as an Arsenal player.

Police first launched an investigation into Partey in February 2022 after receiving a report of rape. He was formally charged last year, just days after his contract at the Emirates Stadium expired.

A full trial is currently listed for 2 November and will be heard under a High Court judge.

Since leaving the Premier League, Partey has continued his career in Spain. He joined Villarreal on a one-year deal during the summer, with the move confirmed after he had already been charged.

Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, has previously said he denies all allegations and intends to contest every charge.
