England striker Harry Kane has admitted that a historic treble is definitely a possibility for Bayern Munich this season after firing the Bavarians into the DFB Cup semi-finals.

Bayern booked their place in the last four for the first time in six years with a 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig in a tense quarter-final clash.

Kane set the tone for the night, calmly converting from the penalty spot shortly after the hour mark following a foul on Josip Stanišić by goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt.

Luis Díaz later doubled Bayern’s advantage to seal progression, ensuring the 20-time cup winners cleared the quarter-final hurdle for the first time since the 2019/20 campaign.

With Bayern also strongly positioned in the Bundesliga title race and already through to the UEFA Champions League round of 16, talk of a potential treble has begun to gather pace.

Addressing those ambitions after the Leipzig win, Kane struck a balanced tone in an interview posted by the Bundesliga.

“It’s definitely a possibility, but there’s still a long way to go – we’re not going to get carried away because of this win today,” the England captain said.

“But, we’re in the right moment; we’re in the right situations; we’re still in all competitions. So, with the way we play and with the way we feel together, of course it’s a possibility.”

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker, who has been central to Bayern’s push on all fronts, emphasised that consistency and fortune will be key if they are to achieve a clean sweep.

“To win a treble, you need a bit of luck and for things to go your way. You need to keep performing and stay injury-free. All of these things have an impact.

“So, we just need to focus on what we’re doing now. We’re in a good moment,” the former Tottenham Hotspur striker concluded.

With Kane leading the charge, Bayern’s dream of a three-trophy haul remains firmly alive.
