West Ham step up pursuit of Bayern Midfielder Noel Aseko

West Ham have added Bayern Munich midfielder Noel Aseko to their summer watch list, as the club begins planning for changes in the centre of the pitch.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Hannover and has been one of the standout young midfielders in the second tier of German football this season.

His performances have attracted attention across Europe, with clubs in the Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga all monitoring his progress.

Aseko has registered three goals and four assists in 21 appearances, but it is his ball-winning and ability to drive play from deep that has garnered much interest.

His growing impact reverberated across the pitch last weekend against Holstein Kiel, where he provided the assist for the opener before scoring himself in a 3-1 victory.

West Ham’s interest in Aseko has been anything but a coincidence, as there has been a change in how targets are identified, with more emphasis now placed on spotting players early, before they blossom and explode at the highest level. Aseko is one of those names.

Head of Technical Recruitment & Analysis, Maximilian  Hahn, is more than likely the man who first flagged the midfielder as a serious option for the Irons.

The German joined the club in 2024 after working in his home country, and his knowledge of the Bundesliga system means Aseko has been on West Ham’s radar long before he came into the spotlight.

Guido Rodriguez’s winter exit has left a vacuum to be filled at the base of midfield for the Hammers, and unsurprisingly, filling that role has become one of the club’s priorities for the summer window.
