Seven-time UEFA Champions League winners AC Milan have been dealt a huge fitness blow with United States Men’s National Team forward Christian Pulisic back in the treatment room after suffering another injury setback.
The former Chelsea forward is out with a case of bursitis, an inflammation of fluid-filled sacs near the joint.
According to The Athletic, the winger’s affected area is close to his hips, ruling him out of action in the immediate term.
AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed the setback in a recent press conference but was hopeful that the injury was not a serious one. He even expressed optimism that the American will return to action “in the coming days.”
The Rossoneri will have to carefully observe Pulisic’s situation in the next few days before deciding whether he will be fit and ready to feature at the weekend when they face Pisa in Serie A.
Pulisic’s romance with injury setbacks goes way back to his time at Chelsea. In his final two seasons at Stamford Bridge alone, he suffered five separate injuries that ruled him out for extended periods.
A hamstring problem delayed his start to the 20/21 campaign and that period of absence was followed by another muscle issue just weeks after his return.
His struggles continued the following season (21/22) with an ankle injury that sidelined him until late October, while his final year at the club was disrupted by a knee problem.
After largely staying fit at AC Milan, Pulisic’s injury troubles resurfaced this season after another hamstring injury sidelined him for almost a month back in October and he’s struggled to stay fit ever since.
