Tammy Abraham to Aston Villa: Deal Agreed in Principle With Besiktas

Tammy Abraham to Aston villa

Tammy Abraham is on his way to England to complete a permanent transfer to Aston Villa from Besiktas, with the Premier League club having agreed a £21m fee that also sees defender Yasin Özcan move in the opposite direction, according to David Ornstein of  The Athletic.

The 28-year-old striker is set to undergo medicals on Saturday before signing a four-and-a-half-year contract, bringing an end to a week-long negotiation. Following Donyell Malen’s departure to Roma, Villa looks to address their short-term need for attacking options by signing the English international.

Abraham comes back to Villa with strong historical ties to the club, having made 40 appearances and scored 26 goals during the 2018-19 promotion-winning campaign. In Turkey with Besiktas, he has netted 13 times in 26 appearances for them this season.

Beyond the numbers, Abraham brings the kind of physical presence and intelligent movement Villa have been missing since Malen left. His hold-up play is good; he can link with midfield runners and create space for Ollie Watkins while offering more depth. His familiarity with the Premier League means there will be little to no adaptation time needed before he hits the ground running.

Alongside young talents like 19-year-old Alysson and 17-year-old Brian Madji from Gremio and Metz, Tammy Abraham is expected to provide more experience and balance to the squad.

All parties have agreed on a £21 million fee plus add-ons, with Yasin Özcan moving to Besiktas as part of the arrangement, pending Abraham’s medicals in England this weekend. With personal terms agreed and a fee set at 21m plus add-ons, Abraham’s move is expected to be finalized after his medical.
