Record English Premier League winners Manchester United have reportedly tabled a staggering €120m offer for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde as they look to reinforce their engine room ahead of next season.

The Red Devils have already confirmed that Casemiro will leave when his contract expires this summer, in a statement on their official website. As such, the club are looking to bring in more midfielders.

They’ve already been linked with Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson, but Valverde could be the latest name to join the trio of midfielders linked to Old Trafford.

According to Spanish outlet E-Noticias, the three-time UEFA Champions League winners have identified Valverde as a primary midfield target and have submitted a mouth-watering €120m bid in an attempt to lure him to Old Trafford.

The report claims the proposal has “seduced” Valverde, particularly due to assurances over his role within the team. It is suggested that the midfielder is increasingly frustrated with being used outside his natural position at Madrid and is seeking a project that trusts him as a complete midfielder.

United are believed to be willing to build their midfield around Valverde, offering him a central role that aligns with his strengths, like energy, ball-carrying, long-range shooting, and tactical intelligence.

Although not an astute passer, Valverde will reduce the workload on Bruno Fernandes as the Portuguese midfielder will have to worry less about carrying the ball from the first phase of play to the third. With the Uruguayan in the team, Bruno will focus on playing the passes in the final third.

Valverde is seen as an ideal partner for Kobbie Mainoo, providing leadership and balance alongside the 20-year-old’s composure and technical quality. United are prepared to make the Uruguayan one of the cornerstones of their rebuild, whether under Michael Carrick or a new permanent manager next season.
