2010 Treble winners, Inter Milan, are looking to bring in Croatian legend Ivan Perisic before the January transfer window slams shut.
The 36-year-old has had two spells with the Nerazzuri. The first came in 2015 when he joined from Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. He spent four years at the San Siro before joining Bayern Munich on loan in 2019, winning the UEFA Champions League with the Bavarians.
Perisic returned to Inter the following year, spending two seasons before joining Tottenham Hotspur. Currently at PSV Eindhoven, the 2018 FIFA World Cup finalist is still going strong, and has started 15 of the club’s 16 games, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.
According to FC Inter News, the 20-time Scudetto winners are exploring a loan option to bring the Croatian back to Italy. Surprisingly, PSV are open to the move, and talks have already begun over the past three days, and a deal could be struck very soon.
However, Perisic is only a backup option for Christian Chivu’s side. Their primary target is Swiss winger Dan Ndoye, but Nottingham Forest are not willing to listen to offers for the 25-year-old, hence the return for Perisic.
Inter’s plan now is to bring Perisic as a reliable option to be a backup for Luis Henrique, who has played every game for the three-time UEFA Champions League winners since the start of December.
While Dan Ndoye remains the preferred long-term target, Forest’s refusal to sell the Swiss international mid-season has forced Inter to look at alternatives. Perisic’s familiarity with the club and his physical condition make him a tempting low-cost opportunity.
Inter Milan are currently top of the Serie A, three points ahead of their rival, AC Milan, and are looking to add some depth to their squad after it cost them in the UEFA Champions League last season.
