Adam Armstrong Open To New Challenge Away From Southampton

Southampton striker Adam Armstrong is open to a new challenge away from the club, with the 28-year-old assessing his options in the current transfer window.

The Newcastle academy graduate has been one of the best attackers in the Championship this season, scoring 11 goals and assisting four. His output places him among the division’s leading scorers, and his form has not gone unnoticed by clubs tracking proven stars.

As revealed by reporter Rudy Galletti, Armstrong is considering the next phase of his career after spending most of his professional life in English football.

He signed a new deal with the south coast club in the summer of 2024, extending his contract until June 2027. The agreement followed a successful campaign where he was central to their promotion push, finishing the season with 37 goal contributions, including the decisive strike against Leeds United at Wembley in the play-off final.

Since moving to St Maryʼs from Blackburn Rovers in 2021, he has remained one of their most recognisable attackers. However, the forward is now weighing up the prospect of a move that could see him take up a new challenge.

With more than a decade of senior football both in the Premier League and Championship, he is understood to be considering opportunities in line with his long-term ambitions.

A number of Championship sides are reportedly monitoring his developments, with Armstrong’s track record making him an attractive option for clubs seeking an established scorer.
