John Stones Set for Manchester City Departure After Ten Years

John Stones to leave Manchester City

Experienced English defender, John Stones, is reportedly ready to leave Manchester City this summer after enjoying ten trophy-laden years at the Etihad Stadium.

Stones, who joined the Cityzens from Everton back in the summer of 2016, will run down his current contract at the end of the season and according to recent reports, the England international is ready to take his talents elsewhere.

Since joining Manchester City, Stones has racked up 290 appearances and registered 28 goal contributions (19 goals and 9 assists). The versatile defender has also won 15 major trophies including 6 Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, 4 EFL Cups and 1 Champions League crown.

If Stones truly decides to depart the Etihad Stadium this summer, he will not be short of top quality suitors. Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in the services of the England international with manager Vincent Kompany said to be particularly keen on a reunion with his former teammate.

The Bavarians are on the look out for a versatile defender to reinforce their defensive core and consider Stones, who is capable of playing across the backline as well as in the defensive midfield position to be an ideal candidate.

However, Bayern are not the only top club alerted to Stones’ current situation at Manchester City with reported interest from the Italian Serie A as well. AC Milan, Napoli and Como are all huge admirers of the England international with the three clubs also considering a swoop in the summer.

Former employers Everton are also interested in reuniting with the 31-year-old but the Toffees’ desire for a reunion is likely to be thwarted by the involvement of heavyweight suitors such as Bayern, Milan and Napoli.

Despite his uncertain future, Stones is currently focused on Manchester City and finishing the 2025/2026 season strongly as he targets a place in England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
