Crystal Palace Wants Frank Lampard To Replace Oliver Glasner As Manager

Frank Lampard to crystal palace

English Premier League club Crystal Palace have identified former Chelsea coach Frank Lampard as a potential replacement for Oliver Glasner when he leaves.

The last few weeks at Crystal Palace have been dominated by uncertainty over Glasner’s future. Two weeks ago, he informed the club that he wouldn’t sign a contract extension even though his deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

Then last week, the club held a series of meetings to decide on whether to sack Glasner after publicly criticizing the club’s transfer policy and throwing them under the bus.

However, they eventually decided to keep him until the end of the campaign, barring any new development.

In the meantime, the Eagles are already shopping for a new gaffer. It is still not guaranteed that Glasner will stay until the end of the campaign, given how volatile he has been in recent days, and Crystal Palace do not want to take chances.

According to TalkSport, the Londoners have identified Chelsea legend Frank Lampard as a potential option. The 47-year-old tactician is currently the coach at Championship club Coventry City, and he has performed impressively well.

The club currently sits at the summit of the league, eight points above Ipswich, who have a game in hand. With Lampard at the helm of affairs, Coventry City have played a sweet and exciting brand of football this season, and they look really good for promotion at the moment.

However, the former English international does not have a great record in the Premier League, having struggled at Chelsea and Everton in recent years. So, Palace will be wary about that. Moreover, they know that a wrong managerial appointment would easily land them in a relegation fight, so they will be careful.

Whoever takes over Glasner’s job has really big shoes to fill. The Austrian has elevated the levels at the club significantly over the last three years, and the hierarchy will be desperate to maintain the momentum.
