Six-time UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool are set to take on Olympique de Marseille at the Orange Velodrome in France tomorrow with the latest Liverpool injury news indicating as many as three players could be missing in action.
The Merseysideiders come into the clash with a worrying form. Arne Slot’s Liverpool have won just one game from their last five. Their only victory came in an FA Cup fixture against Barnsley (4-1). The rest were draws against Burnley, Arsenal, Fulham and Leeds United.
In the Premier League, Liverpool are back in fourth, although they’re a long way off competing against anything solid. Arsenal are peeling away, fourteen points above the reigning English Champions.
As mentioned earlier, heading into the clash against Marseille, Liverpool will be without three players, per SportsMole UK. Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley and Alexander Isak have been ruled out of a crucial fixture for the Record Premier League winners.
Leoni was brought in just before the summer transfer window slammed shut to provide defensive cover for Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, but the 19-year-old defender unfortunately tore his anterior cruciate ligament on his Liverpool debut against Southampton and will not play again this season.
Conor Bradley was meant to have a breakthrough campaign this term in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s absence, but injuries have stunted his development. The Northern Irishman suffered a season-ending knee injury in the goalless draw against Arsenal on January 8, and has since undergone surgery to fix the issue.
Arne Slot clarified that there’s no stipulated time for Bradley’s return, and his focus is on getting fit again.
Just as Isak and Wirtz were clicking in the final third at Anfield, the Swedish striker suffered a fibula fracture in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, just as he scored the game’s opener off a Wirtz assist.
The former Real Sociedad striker has had surgery to fix the broken bone, but is still expected to be back in action before the end of the season.
It is unknown if Mo Salah will be thrown into action immediately after returning from the AFCON 2025 tournament with Egypt.
