Versatile Wolfsburg winger Patrick Wimmer is attracting plenty of interest from all across Europe with Everton and Fulham the latest clubs to join the Austrian’s long list of potential suitors.
Wimmer has impressed at Wolfsburg since joining the Bundesliga side from Arminia Bielefeld back in the summer of 2022. During his time at the Volkswagen Arena so far, the wide forward has racked up 94 appearances across all competitions.
In those 94 appearances, Wimmer has registered 30 goal contributions (13 goals and 17 assists). This season alone, he already has eight goal contributions (3 goals and 5 assists) in just 17 appearances across all competitions for Wolfsburg.
These numbers, despite seeming modest, have placed Wimmer on the radar of many clubs across Europe’s top five leagues, with four teams from the Premier League including Everton and Fulham reportedly approaching Wolfsburg to enquire about the availability of the winger.
Everton are currently in the winter market in search of attacking reinforcements and Wimmer, who is capable of playing on either flank, could certainly add some much-needed depth out wide for the Toffees. As things stand, Iliman Ndiaye, Tyler Dibling and Dwight McNeil are the only natural wingers at the disposal of David Moyes.
Fulham meanwhile, are spoilt for choice in terms of wide options with the likes of Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Adama Traore, Harry Wilson, Kevin and Jonah Kusi-Asare all on their roster. Yet, it appears the Cottagers are looking to make more additions upfront as they continue to pursue European qualification for next season.
According to reports from Rudy Galetti, Wolfsburg are fully aware of the growing transfer interest in Wimmer and the Bundesliga club are open to sanctioning a potential departure as soon as this month if a suitable offer for the services of the 24-year-old winger arrives.
Wimmer is also attracting transfer interest from Italy where the likes of Lazio, Bologna and Fiorentina are said to be huge admirers. The coming weeks could be crucial for the future of the Austria international as some of the interested clubs are expected to move forward with talks.
