Tunisia FA Dangle $100,000 Offer for Eric Chelle To Leave Super Eagles job

The Tunisia Fa is looking to convince Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle to leave Nigeria and become head coach of their men’s team. Chelle took over the Nigeria job last January, but it wasn’t until the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations that his work on the team bore fruits.

The Super Eagles played some of the best quality football in the tournament and had goals to show for it. With their 14-goal haul, they still have the best goalscoring record at AFCON 2025, pending the result of the final between Morocco and Senegal on Sunday.

His unique setup proved to be a tough nut to crack for all of Nigeria’s opponents. They were just unfortunate to have lost the semifinal to hosts Morocco via a penalty shootout. However, they later won the bronze medal game against Egypt on Saturday.

Tunisia was one of the teams that suffered the wrath of Chelle’s team, as the Super Eagles defeated them 3-2 in the group stage. In fact, the result did not fully reflect the gulf between the two teams on the night.

Nonetheless, the Carthage Eagles progressed from that group. But they lost to Mali in the round of 16. That cost coach Sami Trabelsi, as he was fired last Wednesday.

Now, they are searching for a permanent replacement, especially as the 2026 FIFA World Cup is only five months away. Per a report from Dailypost, the Tunisian FA have offered Chelle a mouthwatering $100,000 per month. This is almost double of what he earns as Nigeria’s coach.

Chelle still has one year left on his contract, but at the time of writing, the Franco-Malian tactician has not stated if he will leave the Super Eagles job yet.

The offer is a big one for Chelle, as aside from the money, he will get an opportunity to coach at the FIFA World Cup.

In the meantime, there is also a chance that the Nigeria Football Federation will offer the former Mali coach a contract extension. If he leaves the Super Eagles now, it will definitely be a big blow for the NFF.
