“A Good Player” – Bayern Boss Hails Yan Diomande With Flattering Comments

RB Leipzig teenage talent Yan Diomande has been rolling the headlines since the start of the winter transfer window.

The 19-year-old fleet-footed winger has been linked with Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester City. Correctscoretoday previously reported that RB Leipzig will be listening to offers from €100m and above, although the Ivorian wants to play for Liverpool.

Bayern Munich’s Sporting director Christoph Freund, speaking ahead of his side’s clash against Leipzig this weekend, revealed how much of a delight Diomande is to watch, although he played down the possibility of a transfer.

“What else is new, right? Generally speaking, he’s a very good player who’s had a very good development,” the Austrian said in quotes revealed by Bavarian Football.

“It’s normal that when a Bundesliga player plays well or develops well, he gets linked to FC Bayern. He’s a Leipzig player and it’s not our job to comment on that. But as I said, everyone sees he’s a very good player.”

Bayern currently house Michael Olise, Lennart Karl, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, Luis Diaz, Nicolas Jackson, and Wisdom Mike as attacking options who can play out wide and through the middle.

However, the age of Serge Gnabry and Luis Diaz could tempt the Bayern bosses to opt for a younger option in the summer, but at the moment, it is highly unlikely.

Additionally, Vincent Kompany wouldn’t want to fix what isn’t broken, as Bayern are high-flying on all fronts this season. The Bavarians are currently top of the Bundesliga, eleven points above Borussia Dortmund in what is almost a foregone title challenge.

Meanwhile, Diomande in his first season at Leipzig, has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 17 games across all competitions. The former Leganes man is versatile, can shoot with both foot, and is a very good dribbler.

In the AFCON 2025 tournament, the 19-year-old averaged the second most dribbles per game (4.9). Only Fulham winger, Samuel Chukwueze, had more in that time (5.3). However, his percentages (57.6%) rank higher than those of the Nigerian (56.3%).

Diomande can make a statement with a perfect performance against Bayern Munich at the Red Bull Arena this evening. Leipzig are currently third in the Bundesliga, four points off second-placed Dortmund.
