Juventus Halt Federico Chiesa Pursuit After Failing To Meet Liverpool’s Demands

Record Serie A Champions Juventus have put a pause on their pursuit of Liverpool and Italian winger Federico Chiesa.

Correctscoretoday initially reported that the Old Ladies wanted to take the 28-year-old on a loan deal, but Liverpool wanted an approach that could lead to a potential final transfer. Juventus were considering submitting a loan plus option to buy bid to the Merseysiders, but they’ve chosen to put a halt to their steps.

Juventus head coach, Luciano Spalleti was keen to kick off negotiations with the six-time UEFA Champions League winners, largely to reduce the workload on their Turkish youngster, Kenan Yildiz, who’s taken Europe by storm this season.

The former Napoli manager has been a long-time admirer of the one-time English Premier League winner, especially after they worked together in the Italian National team. However, there’s a stumbling block.

As per Juve FC, the Bianconeri are wary of bringing the former Juventus winger to the Allianz Arena, largely because of his injury problems and the financial package involved.

Liverpool are asking for around €15m for a permanent transfer, shutting the door on a loan deal. Arne Slot’s side have made it clear Federico Chiesa will only leave Anfield permanently.

Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, as per Tutto Mercato Web, revealed that Chiesa’s salary at Liverpool is very high.

The former Fiorentina winger earns €150,000 per week at Anfield, amounting to over €7m annually, a fee Spaletti’s side can simply not afford at the moment.

As such, the cost of operation makes Chiesa’s return to Juventus complicated, and the club have failed to discuss further with Liverpool, despite making initial contact a few days ago.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are readying replacements for Chiesa in case another offer comes in for the Italian. The six-time UEFA Champions League winners have been linked with RB Leipzig’s Ivorian winger, Yan Diomande.
