Senegal Raise Fresh Concerns Ahead of AFCON Final Showdown Against Morocco

Senegal have formally raised several concerns with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) just a day before their AFCON 2025 final clash against Morocco.

The 2021 champions are set to face the hosts at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Sunday, as the tournament reaches its conclusion.

The Lions of Teranga have been one of the standout teams of the tournament, winning five of their six matches and only failing to win against DR Congo during the group stage.

Sadio Mane’s second half strike sealed a 1-0 win over Egypt in their semifinal encounter and booked their place in Sunday’s final.

However, the Lions of Teranga have now called for equal treatment from CAF after raising concerns over training venue, ticketing and security with just a day to the final.

According to a source on X, Senegal have requested for a change in venue after refusing to train at their original location, citing fears that their sessions could be monitored due to its close proximity to Morocco’s training venue.

They also expressed their frustration over ticketing, revealing that they were denied access to more tickets and were only allocated two VVIPs.

The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium has a capacity of about 65,000 and with Senegal receiving below 5%, many of their supporters may be unable to attend the final.

This already puts them at a disadvantage considering the strong support Morocco has received throughout the course of the tournament.

Senegal also raised concerns about inadequate security presence, which left players exposed to fans and could negatively impact their focus ahead of the decisive encounter.

The 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament concludes on Sunday night, with both Morocco and Senegal aiming for history by lifting their second title.
