Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray are going all out to sign Nigerian attacker Ademola Lookman from Atalanta this January.
Lookman has been one of the hottest prospects in the transfer market in the past year. During the 2025 summer transfer window, it was expected that he would leave La Dea for a bigger club due to his exploits in previous seasons.
Clubs like Inter Milan, Arsenal, and Atletico Madrid were linked with the 28-year-old, none of them was able to prise him away from Atalanta, who slapped a €50 million price-tag on his head.
As such, Lookman had to remain in Bergamo, even after going on strike in a bid to force the club’s hand.
But in recent months, talks of a possible transfer to Galatasaray have emerged. The Turkish club have been investing heavily in their squad, bringing in the likes of Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sane, and they are positive that they can land Lookman. This January, they are looking to strike a deal.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Dimarzio, Galatasaray’s Vice President has traveled to Italy to try and seal the deal as soon as possible.
The reigning Turkish champions are positive that they can land the Super Eagles winger, as Atalanta just signed Giacomo Raspadori from Atletico Madrid.
The Italian’s arrival will soften the blow of losing Lookman this January, and Galatasaray will be hoping that it will tempt La Dea to sell Lookman.
However, Atalanta are known to be tough customers, so they might not let go easily or even reduce their €50 million valuation of the player.
Also, Lookman might not be enthralled by the prospect of moving to Turkey, considering that the league is not regarded as one of the top in Europe.
The transfer negotiations will likely drag on until the end of January because Lookman is currently playing for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He will want to remain focused on Nigeria until the competition ends on January 18.
