Jonathan Ikone hails paris fc's win against PSG

Jonathan Ikone has expressed satisfaction with Paris FC’s performance, following their shock 1-0 win over European champions Paris Saint Germain in Monday night’s French Cup clash.

The Frenchman came back to haunt his former club, scoring the only goal of the clash at the Parc des Princes as they progressed from the Round of 32 clash.

PSG suffer shock French Cup exit to Paris FC

PSG, who were crowned champions of the 2025 Trophee des Champions a few days ago, headed into the clash against their city neighbours hoping to maintain their unbeaten record.

The European champions were unbeaten at home in this competition since 2022 and had not suffered elimination at this stage since 2014.

They also recorded a 2-1 win in their most recent meeting against Paris FC earlier in the month in a French Ligue One clash.

As expected, Les Parisiens exerted their dominance on the clash with several chances to break the deadlock, but brilliant goalkeeping by visiting goalkeeper Obed Nkambadio kept them at bay.

Vitinha, Bradley Barcola, Gonçalo Ramos, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele, were all guilty of missing goalscoring opportunities as the home side dominated proceedings.

Luis Enrique’s side were made to rue their missed chances as two substitutes combined to give the visitors a shock lead in the 74th minute, when Ilam Kebbal passed to Ikone who clinically finished past Lucas Chevalier.

PSG fell short in an attempt to grab a late equalizer, as the visitors snatched a first-ever win in the clash, sending the defending champions crashing out of the tournament.

Former PSG academy product, Ikone expressed excitement with the result while speaking in an interview after the clash.

He said: We’re really happy, we managed to defend well. I’m really happy with my goal, just a joy, and I hope it’s not my last goal.”

Paris FC head to the Round of 16 of the 2025-26 French Cup after the historic win and will find out their opponents later today, before the Round of 32 clash between Bayeux and Olympique Marseille.
