When Liverpool’s Premier League season kicked off, Federico Chiesa was the joker card from the bench.
The Italian came off the bench to score crucial goals, notably against Atletico de Madrid and Bournemouth. However, it has always been known that while the EURO 2020 winner wants more minutes at Anfield, he’d be a squad player once Wirtz-Ekitike and Cody Gakpo clicked into gear.
While Mo Salah has done well to prove Jamie Carragher wrong by doing exploits with Egypt at the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco, Chiesa has had to fill in multiple roles, playing as a right-back on a few occasions.
After selling him to Liverpool for €12m almost four years ago, Juventus are looking to bring Federico Chiesa back to the Allianz Arena in Turin.
Luciano Spaletti’s side had officially begun negotiating with the six-time UEFA Champions League winners, largely to reduce the workload on their Turkish youngster Kenan Yildiz, who’s taken Europe by storm this season.
The 20-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 29 games for the Old Ladies this season across all competitions, sparking interest from top European clubs.
According to Juve FC, Chiesa’s move to Juventus initially kicked off as a suggestion, but has now emerged into something that could materialise in the coming days. Liverpool’s wish is to let the Italian winger off the hook permanently, while the Bianconeri are looking for a loan option until the end of the season.
The Record Serie A champions have reconsidered their stance, and are prepared to make a loan offer that’ll include the option to buy. Arne Slot’s side wants €12m for the 28-year-old’s services, and while Juventus are open to paying that sum for Chiesa, his injury record has given them something to worry about.
Over the past five seasons, the former Fiorentina winger has missed 82 games for club and country, a situation Juventus are desperate to avoid.
While the movement is gaining traction between both clubs, Juventus and Chiesa are yet to agree on personal terms.
