Turkish champions Galatasaray are reportedly set to battle rivals Fenerbahce for the signature of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Lions are planning for major reinforcements in the summer as they aim to build a stronger squad capable of competing with Europe’s top clubs while maintaining their dominance in the Turkish Super League.
Galatasaray have won the last three league titles and are in pole position for a fourth, but have struggled to match their domestic success with their performances in Europe.
They reached the Champions League Round of 16 this season, marking the first time in their last six appearances in the competition.
As a result, the club is actively exploring options to strengthen, with Sarr emerging as a key target, according to reports.
The Senegalese midfielder joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2021 but only established himself as a regular during the 2023-24 campaign.
Since then, he has become an important figure in the squad, playing a crucial role in their Europa League triumph in 2025 and has already made 33 appearances across all competitions this season.
Galatasaray view him as an upgrade and a long-term solution in midfield, but they are expected to face serious competition from Fenerbahce, who have also shown previous interest and are also preparing to strengthen their squad in a bid to mount a serious challenge next season.
Champions League football could give Galatasaray a major edge in the race for his signature, especially with Tottenham facing the threat of relegation, which might also make a move more likely.
However, any deal will come down to whether both clubs can agree on a transfer fee.
