Borussia Dortmund targeting summer reunion with Man United outcast Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund are currently weighing up the possibility of reuniting with Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho as the summer transfer window draws nearer.

Sancho spent four largely successful years at Dortmund before making a whopping £73 million move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021.

After moving to the Premier League, the exciting English forward struggled to replicate the levels that convinced Manchester United to splash such a hefty sum to acquire his services.

To put his struggles into context, Sancho’s tally of 12 goals and 6 assists over the course of his first two seasons at Old Trafford is dwarfed in comparison to the 16 goals and 18 assists registered during his last season at the Signal Iduna Park alone.

In addition to that, he fell out of favour with then Man United boss Erik ten Hag in his third season and since then, hasn’t featured for the Red Devils with the club sending him out on a series of loan spells to Dortmund, Chelsea and currently Aston Villa.

With Sancho’s time as a Man United player now set to officially come to an end this summer at the expiration of his contract, the Bundesliga giants are now considering a reunion with the England international ahead of next season.

Borussia Dortmund’s managing director, Lars Ricken, confirmed the interest while speaking to SportsBILD Germany in a recent interview.

“We’re currently looking at a lot of players and analysing them closely,” Ricken said, per quotes revealed by Birmingham Live. “We check whether they can make us better. We’re doing that with Jadon as well.”

Dortmund may, however, have to battle Aston Villa for the right to Sancho’s signature as Villans boss Unai Emery has previously indicated his willingness to retain the services of the Manchester City academy graduate beyond the duration of his loan spell.
