Premier League heavyweights Chelsea are the latest club to express interest in AS Monaco’s highly-rated midfielder Lamine Camara ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Senegal international joined the Ligue 1 side from Metz in 2024 and has quickly established himself as a key figure in the team, making 65 appearances across two seasons, including 25 across all competitions this season.
At just 22, Camara has emerged as one of Europe’s most in-demand young midfielders, with several top clubs closely monitoring his development behind the scenes.
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are now seriously weighing up a move for the midfielder, particularly amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Enzo Fernández at the club.
The Argentine midfielder has attracted interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and could depart if a significant offer arrives in the summer.
Should that happen, the Blues are expected to step up their pursuit of Camara as a potential replacement.
The two-time European champions admire the 22-year-old’s versatility in central midfield, while he can also operate in a deeper role.
The London club also value his ball-winning ability and physical presence in the midfield, which would make him well-suited to the demands of the Premier League.
However, Chelsea are not alone in the race to sign Camara. Newcastle United are also keen on the midfielder as they consider him a possible successor to Sandro Tonali, who could leave the club this summer.
Premier League champions Liverpool, meanwhile, have also shown interest as they look to strengthen their midfield in the summer after a troubled campaign.
Camara fits Chelsea’s recruitment profile, and if Monaco fail to secure Champions League qualification, they could be forced into a sale, potentially paving the way for a dream move to Stamford Bridge.
