Gabriel Jesus prioritizing Arsenal contract renewal despite growing exit speculations

Arsenal Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal back-up striker Gabriel Jesus is keen to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium despite increasing speculation surrounding his future ahead of the summer transfer window.

Jesus has been the subject of contradicting reports in recent weeks, with links ranging from a potential return to Palmeiras to growing interest from top European clubs, most notably AC Milan.

However, his current desire appears to be carrying on with his career in North London, per reports from Sports Witness.

While a move back to Brazil has been suggested, that option is not considered an immediate priority, with the 28-year-old understood to favour remaining in Europe at this stage of his career.

Italy, meanwhile, has emerged as a more concrete possibility, with Milan repeatedly linked amid suggestions that Arsenal could be open to restructuring their attack this summer.

From a personal standpoint, though, Jesus wants to remain in North London, and although the striker, whose contract runs until 2027, has yet to enter formal renewal talks with Arsenal, he is believed to have made it clear internally that extending his deal remains his first choice.

Injuries have once again limited him to just 21 appearances across all competitions this season, but he remains a key member of Mikel Arteta’s setup and is often called upon regularly when fit.

Should a renewal fail to materialise, Jesus is expected to prioritise a stay in the Premier League, where the likes of Everton, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have all expressed interest in acquiring his services from the Gunners.

With the Brazil international open to committing his future to the Emirates, the ball now rests in Arsenal’s court.

The Gunners now have to decide whether they want to offer Jesus a new deal or if they should look to cash in on the former Manchester City star in the upcoming transfer window.
