Premier League champions Liverpool are considering a move for Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries ahead of the summer transfer window.
The six-time European champions have endured a difficult campaign, and despite spending heavily on new signings last summer, they are prepared to further strengthen their squad as they aim to return to top form next season.
One of their main concerns this season has been at right-back, where they have struggled to properly replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who moved to Real Madrid after his contract expired last season.
Jeremie Frimpong, who was brought in from Bayer Leverkusen, has endured several injury worries this season, while Conor Bradley was also sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury in January.
As a result, Liverpool have been forced to improvise, using other members of the squad in the role, including the likes of players Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo and Joe Gomez.
According to TeamTalk, the Reds are now seriously weighing up a move for Dumfries as a long-term solution at right-back.
The 29-year-old has been one of the standout performers in his position since joining Inter in 2021 and was named in the Serie A Team of the Season in the last campaign, which further cemented his status.
The Dutch international has also attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Manchester City.
Dumfries reportedly has a release clause of around €25 million that becomes active this summer, although Inter are keen to remove it by negotiating a new contract.
If contract talks fail to progress, Liverpool are expected to move quickly. Securing Champions League qualification could also give them an edge in the race for the defender, who is seen as a clear upgrade at right-back.
