Three Premier League clubs vying for Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix

A summer tug-of-war is brewing for Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix, with multiple Premier League heavyweights circling ahead of the transfer window.

According to reports from TEAMtalk, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Liverpool are all monitoring the 25-year-old defender, while Crystal Palace are bracing themselves for formal approaches in the coming months.

Palace have quietly developed a reputation as a finishing school for elite defenders. After losing Joachim Andersen to Fulham, the Eagles moved swiftly to secure Lacroix, and under Oliver Glasner, the Frenchman has flourished.

Strong in duels, composed in possession, and comfortable defending high lines, Lacroix stepped into a leadership role following Marc Guehi’s January departure to Manchester City. His consistency has not gone unnoticed.

Villa are understood to be weighing up defensive changes, with Pau Torres potentially heading for the exit. Lacroix’s athletic profile and Premier League adaptation make him a ready-made upgrade for Unai Emery’s evolving backline.

Chelsea’s interest is equally logical. Since Levi Colwill suffered a long-term injury, defensive reinforcement has been high on the agenda.

The Blues have previously been linked with Jeremy Jacquet, but Lacroix’s top-flight experience and physical maturity fit their recruitment model: young, high-ceiling, but already proven.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are planning for defensive uncertainty. With Ibrahima Konate approaching free agency and squad depth a concern, Lacroix offers immediate reliability.

The Reds have also monitored Murillo, but the Palace star’s blend of pace and leadership may prove more appealing.

Lacroix further boosted his reputation during the recent international break, making his senior France debut against Brazil before completing a full 90 minutes versus Colombia.

Crucially, Palace are in a strong negotiating position. The defender is contracted until 2029 and does not have a release clause, meaning the South London club can dictate terms.

Having already lost key defensive figures in successive windows, Palace may be reluctant sellers, but with three ambitious Premier League clubs circling, the pressure is building.
