Barcelona step up pursuit of Hoffenheim forward Fisnik Asllani

Spanish champions Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a move for Hoffenheim forward Fisnik Asllani ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Catalan giants are expected to prioritise strengthening their attack ahead of next season, as they begin planning for life after Robert Lewandowski.

The veteran striker, who has carried much of the club’s goalscoring responsibility since joining in 2022, could leave at the end of the campaign with his contract nearing expiry and no extension agreed yet.

There is also uncertainty surrounding the future of Ferran Torres at the club. While his current deal runs until 2027, Barcelona may consider selling him earlier rather than risk a situation where he could eventually run down his contract without renewing.

According to recent reports, the five-time European champions have stepped up their interest in Asllani and have already made contact with his representatives, as they look to move quickly in securing a potential replacement early in the transfer window.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Hoffenheim, registering nine goals and eight assists across all competitions and helping the club in their push for a possible return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2018–19 campaign.

Although Barcelona are still prioritising a move for Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, financial constraints could force them to explore more affordable alternatives.

With his release clause reported to be around €30 million, Asllani represents a more affordable option and given the 23-year-old’s openness to a move, Barcelona could look to wrap up a deal for the young forward very early.
