Premier League champions Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign AS Roma defender Evan Ndicka ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports from CaughtOffside.
The Ivory Coast centre-back has grown into a key figure for Roma since arriving in 2023, with his consistency and availability standing out as his major strengths.
The 26-year-old played every minute of the Giallorossi’s Serie A campaign last season, earning a spot in the Team of the Season and has carried that form into the current campaign with 35 appearances across all competitions, including 24 in the league.
His impressive displays have attracted interest from several European heavyweights, including Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur, while Liverpool have now become the latest club to show their interest.
The Reds are keen to strengthen their defence ahead of next season and Ndicka is seen as a strong option who would immediately improve their backline.
Uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate’s future is also a factor, with his contract set to expire this summer and no agreement reached over an extension so far.
Although Liverpool secured a deal for Rennes youngster Jeremy Jacquet in January, with the defender set to arrive in the summer, the club are still targeting a more experienced option to stabilise their defence, which has struggled at times this season.
The Reds are also monitoring the likes of Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck and Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo, as we reported earlier and could turn to the Roma defender if they miss out on their primary options.
Roma, meanwhile, may be open to a sale due to financial constraints and Liverpool are expected to have little trouble meeting the Italian club’s valuation if they decide to move forward with a deal.
