While Hansi Flick has been widely praised for restoring discipline and structure at FC Barcelona, the first signs of unrest have begun to surface at the Spotify Camp Nou with Swedish wonderkid Roony Bardghji.

The 20-year-old winger, who sealed a high-profile move to Barcelona last summer, has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth. Bardghji has made 22 appearances across all competitions this season, but most of those have come off the bench.

Although flashes of his quality have been evident in brief cameos, the youngster has now publicly admitted his frustration.

Speaking to Swedish media during the international break, Bardghji acknowledged he is unhappy with his limited role.

“The truth is that until this moment I have had little playing time. I have patience but, honestly, I think I deserve to play more.

“I’m not 100% happy, but this is football. I respect those who have been in the squad for a long time, they are my teammates. I know what I can do, I have a lot of confidence in myself.”

His comments have inevitably sparked fresh speculation about his future in Catalonia.

During the January transfer window, several European clubs were monitoring the situation, with FC Porto particularly keen on securing his services.

At the time, Flick was determined to keep his squad intact and blocked any potential departure. However, the landscape heading into summer may look very different.

Barcelona are expected to reinforce their wide areas, and there remains uncertainty over whether they will pursue a permanent deal for Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

Any additional arrival on the flanks would further complicate Bardghji’s path to consistent minutes.

For now, the ball is in Flick’s court. Either the German tactician integrates the Swede more prominently in the final stretch of the campaign, or Barcelona may be forced to consider a loan or even a permanent exit to prevent dressing-room tension from escalating.

One thing is clear: Bardghji no longer sees himself as a fringe option, and he wants to prove it on the pitch.
