Manchester United have drawn up a four-man shortlist for the left-back position ahead of the summer, and one of the names at the top of it is Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The 19-year-old was one of the most exciting young players in English football last year. He made 39 appearances for Arsenal in 2024/25, won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, broke the England record for the youngest player to score on their senior debut and signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates.
Twelve months on, he has made one Premier League start since January and has been left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad entirely.
His pathway at Arsenal has narrowed considerably since Piero Hincapie’s arrival, and some rumours suggest that he is open to leaving in search of regular football.
United have been tracking his situation closely, per TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey, and his combination of Premier League experience, versatility and pure profit status for Arsenal, as a homegrown academy product, makes him an attractive proposition.
The club are also aware that Tyrell Malacia is expected to leave when his contract expires in June, and Patrick Dorgu is now considered more of an attacking option than a natural left-back.
Luke Shaw remains the first choice when fit, but the position needs genuine competition, and Michael Carrick wants it addressed before the summer window closes.
United are also understood to be monitoring Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell, Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and RB Leipzig’s David Raum.
Mitchell has been one of the more consistent left-backs in the Premier League this season and would represent a straightforward, experienced option.
Robinson is a more attack-minded choice with 11 assists in all competitions this season.
Raum, meanwhile, brings Bundesliga and Champions League pedigree and has been among Germany’s most reliable performers in qualification.
Everton and Brentford are also tracking Lewis-Skelly, which means United will not have a clear run.
